Road 34 Jam

Andy Holloway of 970biking and Nick Simcik, Transition Rider, invited me to yet another DJ jam, this time at the Road 34 complex in Ft. Collins. I left Boulder with the notion that “Road 34″ would be a small shoot with just a few select riders, instead it turned out to be the biggest event I’ve been to so far this season. The hefty $1000 1st Prize payout helped motivate the many pro riders go bigger and trickier on every run. Good times were had by all riders as far as I could tell, and the 300+ large crowd was ecstatic.

As for myself – another great day outdoors doing what I love surrounded by cool people! This was my first day shooting with my newly acquired Elinchrom Ranger kit – a mighty powerful flash gun. Very stoked about it, I had been looking forward to being able to overpower the sun for months. After initial and intermittent frustrations due to my poor choice of no-name radio triggers, the Ranger did not disappoint, and overall I’m happy with Saturday’s results.

On a different note, super stoked that Brett and Kim also came up from Boulder to watch this event! They both shredded really hard on skis the entire winter season, Brett topping out with a 100+ft road gap, and it’s good to have ‘em tag along now that the spring is in full swing.

This summer is going to be good. Stoked on what’s coming!
